This Jalan Redop project is a masterclass in landed house interior design in Singapore. Zenith Arc transformed this three-storey terrace into a seamless blend of modern contemporary aesthetics and warm minimalism, proving that large-scale renovations can be both architecturally stunning and deeply functional for a young family.

The Design Brief: Balancing Space and Purpose

Landed property owners in Singapore often face a unique challenge: having ample square footage that feels “chopped up” or poorly lit. For this Jalan Redop home, the homeowners wanted to eliminate the dark, compartmentalised feel of the original layout.

The primary goals were:

  1. Fluidity: An open-concept ground floor for family bonding.

  2. Smart Storage: Concealed, floor-to-ceiling carpentry to maintain a clutter-free environment.

  3. Versatility: Dedicated zones for a home office and private gym without compromising bedroom space.

Strategic Design Highlights

1. The Ground Floor: A Light-Filled Social Hub

The heart of this modern contemporary renovation is the integration of the living, dining, and dry kitchen areas.

  • Living Room: Featuring a grey marble-look TV feature wall with a floating console, we used horizontal lines to emphasise the width of the terrace.

  • Under-Stair Storage: A signature Zenith Arc move—we wrapped the staircase bulk in full-height white cabinetry with brass accents, turning “dead space” into a massive storage asset.

  • Ceiling Architecture: Instead of a standard false ceiling, we installed recessed LED profile channels. This defines the zones geometrically while preserving maximum headroom.

2. The Kitchen: Wet and Dry Separation

Modern Singaporean lifestyles often require a “social” dry kitchen and a “functional” wet kitchen.

  • The Dry Kitchen: Centered around an oversized marble-topped island with a fluted timber base. It serves as a breakfast bar and a casual workspace.

  • The Wet Kitchen: Separated by full-height glass sliding doors, allowing the cook to remain visually connected to the family while containing heavy cooking fumes and noise.

3. The Staircase: An Architectural Spine

We treated the staircase as a design feature rather than a utility. By using solid walnut timber treads and frameless glass balustrades, we allowed natural light to filter from the upper floors down to the basement. LED strip lighting under each tread adds a touch of hotel-grade luxury and enhances nighttime safety.

4. Niche Functional Spaces: Office & Gym

  • Home Office: Located on the upper floor, we used an arched glass partition to provide acoustic privacy for video calls while maintaining a visual connection to the home.

  • Enclosed Balcony Gym: We converted the underutilised balcony into a high-performance home gym with easy-to-clean wood-look tiles and light-control roller blinds.

Material Palette: The "Quiet Luxury" Vibe

To achieve a cohesive look across three floors, we used a restrained selection of premium materials:

  • Timber: Rich walnut for architectural accents and light oak for private sanctuary spaces (bedrooms).

  • Stone: Marble-veined solid surfaces for durability in high-traffic areas like the kitchen and bathrooms.

  • Metal & Glass: Black aluminium frames and brass hardware to anchor the neutral tones.

Landed Renovation Tips for Singapore Homeowners

Pro-Tip 1: Always use glass partitions between wet and dry kitchens. It preserves the “open-concept” look while being practical for Asian cooking styles.

Pro-Tip 2: When planning your landed house interior, think vertically. Use consistent materials on every floor to avoid a disjointed “unit-by-unit” feel.

Pro-Tip 3: Maximise your GFA (Gross Floor Area) by converting enclosed balconies into functional nooks like gyms or reading corners.
